To all Africans, Coloureds and Indians who voted for the DA, be warned..
Denis, one of our readers sent this in.
It is a very interesting list which has a whole range of racist ANC statements which are published on line as a ‘Who said it quiz’. it’s way too long to put up in it’s entirety, so so go and take a look. All are made by various politicians over the years. See the link on the title and at the bottom of the post.
This particular one is from back in 2000, however in light of how the coloured and Indians are straining under crime just like everyone else, and have been forced to change their tunes on the glory of the ANC and the great enlightened punter of African Renaissance and other boon babble, it will be interesting to see where they stand now.
“To all Africans, Coloureds and Indians who voted for the DA, be warned that there’s going to be consequences for not voting for the ANC. When it comes to service delivery, we will start with the people who voted for us and you (DA supporters) will be last”.
Just in case you ever thought the ANC cared about all South Africans, this quote by KwaZulu-Natal Premier S’bu Ndebele, on 6 December 2000, is worth dwelling on.
It was said at a rally outside the Workshop shopping centre after the ANC had won an election in the Durban area.
Two points are worth considering.
First, Ndebele doesn’t identify people who didn’t vote for the ANC by principle (not that that wouldn’t be a problem either) but by their race – and he doesn’t mention whites.
The subtext being: “we expect counter-revolutionary whites to vote for DA, but not Africans, Indians and Coloureds – those groups’ vote belong to the ANC and we will punish you if you don’t comply”. Second, this quote was said after the ANC had already won, so it cannot be explained away as scaremongering – rather it was a deliberate message that the ANC would punish those ‘non-whites’ who voted for the DA.
Here is a real goodie…who said it?
““I do not go to Newlands to watch Jacques Kallis or Mark Boucher, I go to watch Paul Adams and Makhaye Ntini. Who is Jacques Kallis? Jacques Kallis means nothing to me. You say black players don’t want to feel like quota players. Tough shit. It is the media that calls them that. It is for more players than them. If they can’t stand it they must get out. I don’t care a shit about that. They must take the pressure like we had to in the struggle”.
Who said it? - The DA has long since advocated that politics should be kept out of the administration of sports (government should focus on grass roots development instead). In South Africa, never mind the government, the ANC itself – most often in the form of the ANC Youth League – is perfectly happy to summon various sport codes to meetings. One can only wonder what sorts of exchanges take place behind closed doors. On 10 July 2002, we got a hint when minutes from a meeting between United Cricket Board officials and former sports minister Ngconde Balfour were leaked to the media. The quote is taken from the minutes.
