K1 Visa in the Philippines is a faster process than K3 Visa which is for spouse?
Question by Rom Anthony Canceran: I heard that K1 Visa in the Philippines is a faster process than K3 Visa which is for spouse?
I want to bring my filipina fiancee in the US. I am going to the Philippines next month to visit her and her family. We are planning to get married, but I want the marriage to take place in the US. However, her family wants us to have the marriage in the Philippines. I heard that K1 Visa in the Philippines is a faster process than K3 Visa which is for spouse. Anyone has experience on this?

Update;
Please note what Fred stated and disregard the K1 K3 data I gave you.
Thanks Fred! I will look at your video’s. I hope someday to meet that specail Filipina.
K1 is a visa and so is months faster than a K3 an actual immigration visa.
IMO you should respect the wishes of your FiancĂ©es family for several important reasons. A “respectable” single Filipina from a good family would not travel to live with a man in another country even though they are to be married.
A marriage ceremony in a very important family event perhaps the most important event in a woman’s life.
It could be her family priest would be able to preform a wedding ceremony without registering it and then you could legally marry once she arrives in the States. We know this is done all the time. Please note I’m not suggesting you do anything illegal just an idea.

Indeed K1 visa is much faster than K3…Few of my friends are doing the same thing. It is also true that you should respect the wishes of the lady’s parents about the marriage thing. You should look it up, i mean the family background of the lady. If she came from a very respectable family, they will not let you for sure to take their daughter without a proper ceremony. Just be sure, that woman is the person you really want to spend the rest of your life with since their is no divorce in the Philippines (if ever you marry her there in the Phils). Good luck on that. …(^_^)…
The process of K1 visa Philippines is indeed faster than k3 visa. So I would suggest you explain that to your fiancee if she wants to be able to travel with you to the US the soonest. K1 visa is faster than k3 but it may even still take 9 months to 1 year to complete the process. I would suggest you hire an expert or an immigration lawyer in the Philippines to help you with the application for a faster processing.
K1 & K3 take about the same times and fees. both will require ‘adjustment’ of status in the USA, that will cost about $ 1000 more, and will take a couple months extra to get a green card, work permit after arriving in the usa, you basically must start the entire application process over, submit documents, medical exams, interview, etc.
the IR spouse visa takes a few months longer, but it is a permanent immigration visa, no need to ‘adjust’ status after wife arrives in USA, so you save about $ 1000 and no need to wait for green card, work permit when wife arrives on the IR visa. after your wife passes thru immigration at the airport, you are basically done.
since most people make silly clerical errors in the application process, making use of firms that help you submit the documents may save a few months time, some of these firms on the internet have fees under $ 500.
well i am not sure about philippines but the same problem i gotten when i move to russia tour and their is an online agent help me to get visa
I have helped many thousands of Filipina – American couples find each other. When marriage results, my couples often ask advice on how to accomplish immigration, and reunite in the USA
K3 used to be the visa of choice for married couples, but now this visa type is being phased out by US Department of State. You may attempt to file for a K3 but they will at the end of the day process it as a CR1
Most Filipina – American couples I know who have recently gone through the process have had their K1 or CR-1 visas approved on average within 6 months. Some as fast as 3 months.
Today choosing between a Fiancee and Spousal visa, is usually just a choice of what makes the couple happiest.
Talk with your Fiancee and find out what will make the two of you the most happy: A wedding in Philippines or a wedding in USA.
If you already have met your fiancee face to face, you can start the fiancee visa process right away.
Alternatively if you wish to marry first, you will have to wait until after the honeymoon before starting the marriage visa process.
The K-1 fiancee visa allows your fiancee to come to the USA to marry you. Once here you marry, then apply for her Green Card.
The CR-1 visa process, automatically includes the application for the Green Card. You save USCIS application fees of $ 1,200
Comparison
A. The proof that you have a “bone fide” relationship is about the same.
B. The time it takes to get the visa is about the same.
C. The paperwork is about the same.
Philippines K1 Fiancee Visa
Pro: You can apply as soon as you meet face to face
Con: You can not use a financial co-sponsor
Philippines CR1 Spousal Visa
Pro: Green card is included, you save $ 1,200
Con: Local marriage law requires 10 day waiting period after you apply (in person, in the Philippines) for the marriage license
K1 visa (fiance visa) are for non married couples. Must marry within 90 days after entering the USA. Only good for one entry into USA. Usually takes around 6 to 8 months. Once you marry in the USA then apply for adjustment of status ($ 1,100.00 fee) so she can continue to stay here.
K3 visa (spouse visa) for married couples. Also a non-immigrant visa (I don’t recommend it).
If you decide to get married in the Philippines then you will have to apply for a CR-1 Visa. This is an immigrant visa, meaning that when you spouse arrives in the USA, she or he will get a green card. This visa can take anywhere from 8 months to a year and a half.
